Joy is found in…

I find it in that quiet moment, before the dawning chorus of voices fills our home.

I find it in the sweetness of my husband’s embrace, after a long day.

I find it in the belly laughter, as I’m known by those around me.

I find it in the satisfaction of a job, well done.

I find it in that sweet treat, shared amongst precious deepening conversations with friends.

I find it in the thrill of sharing the riches of God’s word with others.

I find it as I see those I love, grow into who the Lord has made them to be.

I find it as I sit here, crafting words that can in some way portray its goodness.

All these I find, by God’s gracious hand, in the comings and goings of everyday life.

And yet there is a joy that is deeper still.

A joy that permeates and transcends.

A joy that encompasses both the highest of heights and the deepest valleys in life.

A joy that isn’t dependent on the here and now.

I find it when I remember my name is written in heaven.

I find it when I consider the riches of my inheritance that will never perish, spoil or fade.

I find it as I dwell on the One, who for the joy set before Him, endured the cross for me.

I find it as I trust wholly in Him, despite my circumstances begging me to do otherwise.

I find it as I come to understand that all my other joys are but a shadow.

I find it as I come to Him, the immovable source of its goodness.

I find it in Him.
